Job Description

Set sail on a new career with Carnival, and help us bring the FUN to life aboard one of our fantastic vessels! We’re looking for dedicated individuals to join us in our Housekeeping Department.  

 

As a key member of our Awesome Housekeeping Team, the Handyperson supports the department by undertaking minor repairs in Guest Staterooms and Corridors, to housekeeping equipment and serenity furniture.  You will love all fixing things and be happy to work on your own.   

 

As with all of our team members, you’ll be a highly visible member of the team, and will constantly interact with our guests and helping them with questions. The vacation experience we promise our guests will start with you!  


PositionFunctions:


  • Repair serenity furniture - resin wicker polyethylene (re-weave cords, pulling, tugging, and packing the cord weaves, re-cording chair seats, hammocks). 
  • Tighten up loose screws, as well as replace missing screws. 
  • Repair housekeeping trolleys. 
  • Repair Serenity furniture. 
  • Repair broken and loose closet door hinges. 
  • Tighten up balcony chair screws. 
  • Tighten up bulk ladder screws 
  • Repair and replace bathroom accessories i.e.: soap dishes etc 
  • Replace or repair damaged door gaskets. 
  • Replace and repair doorknobs. 
  • Tighten up and repair exhaust vent screws. 
  • Carpet discrepancies report. 
  • Replace and repair furniture knobs 
  • Repair damaged bedside table and dresser edges 
  • Repair ADA stateroom shower stools. 
  • Repair rusted/oxidized bathroom mirrors. 
  • Utilize tools and job-related machines as trained. Care for machinery in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions and as designated 
  • Report defects in tools to ensure proper working conditions of equipment 
  • Follow and implement efficient working schedules related to areas of work 
  • Maintain set standards for repairs as per CCL standards 
  • Provide effective reports on results of equipment utilized and materials used in case of defects on delivery 
  • Ability to maintain equipment with minor repairs, effectively communicate issues regarding equipment 
  • Attend wet/dry docks as scheduled 
  • Complete all projects and other duties assigned within designated timelines as directed by Senior Assistant Housekeeping Manager or Housekeeping Manager 
  • Submit to Housekeeping Manager daily maintenance report 
  • Adhere to the company’s standards regarding dress and appearance (Carnival Look Book) 
  • Adhere to all Carnival Values at all times 
  • Attend all Safety drills and training as required 
  • Adhere to all ECP and Environmental policies and procedures.  

Position Minimum Requirements:

  • Fluency in conversational English, hospitable, positive attitude, motivated.
  • Minimum 1 years’ service in carpentry and maintenance in a hotel or resort environment.
  • Need to be extremely hospitable even when working under pressure & high volume environment.
  • The position is very active and the applicant should be able to lift approximately 35 kilos (75 pounds).
